Tan Sri Khalid has ordered an internal audit on the Selangor administration to dispel allegations of misappropriation of state funds by Pakatan Rakyat lawmakers. The report will be made available to the public as well as to MACC in a month's time.
The decision came after the appearance of an anonymous blog "t4bh.blogspot" which claimed that DAP state executive councilors Ronnie Liu and Ean Yong Hian Wah had been stealing state funds and that Teoh Boon Hock was ready to spill the beans before he was found dead.
So far Liu has provided evidence to disprove the allegations, while Ean Yong has lodged a police report against the blog.
It’s a good step forward on Khalid's part, to prove that PR lawbreakers are clean and not corrupt. Wonder whether Barisan Nasional law makers will do the same to shake the corruption tag that has been fastened on to their backs for decades?
Where does Pakatan go from here? Don't worry ... Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng seems to say. He was a body of confidence when he remarked that the three-party alliance would not break up despite the pressures of “growing under a magnifying glass” of its political enemies.
He said, “Nothing can be further from the truth than to say that the political obituary of Pakatan Rakyat can be written.”
He believes that even if Anwar Ibrahim, who is facing a sodomy trial, is found guilty and thrown into jail, life at Pakatan will still go on and is unlikely to come apart.
I would think not, now that PKR has another anchor man, in the form of Zaid Ibrahim waiting in the wings to step into Anwar’s shoes.
Have no fear folks … about PAS getting too close to Umno. Any move by PAS towards ethnic-based politics would cause a break-up of PAS as a “significant” number of its leaders and members would rather stay with PR, said Lim Guan Eng. This is one very self assured man alright, I pray he will not be made to eat his words in the future.
He threw a hint to the administration of Datuk Seri Najib Razak that a two-party system was emerging in the country and Barisan Nasional needed to accept it.
Pakatan Rakyat wants to replace the concept of Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) promoted by Umno, with its own Ketuanan Rakyat (people’s supremacy), in which leaders would help the public without looking at their ethnicity said Lim … adding that the Umno model, merely distributed wealth and shares among its members, not among the Malay masses.
Lastly he said the Najib administration should not play politics on national issues in Penang as Penang is the second most industrialized state in Malaysia after Selangor. He does not think the Najib administration would allow Penang to fail and that they should work together.
Wow! This is a light bulb moment. For the life of me why didn't DAP think of this in the first place instead of being at loggerheads with the Federal Government from day one. Still, it is not too late that Pakatan Rakyat has finally come to the realization that it must work closely with the Federal government to receive help and to get national issues resolved in Penang?
